March back in Sri Lanka on the sale of alcohol to women over the age of 18. Just two days after the ban was lifted after 60 years, President Maithripala Sirisena, reports the Bbc, ordered the government to reinstate it, a move that also prevents women from working (without permission). Sirisena’s decision is attributed to the pressures of the Buddhist hierarchy.
