“The official number of people who died in the collapse of the mountain of dead garbage is 24”. Sri Lankan police spokesman Priyantha Jayakody reported this, updating the death toll. There are 12 injured, the official said, while about 180 people have been moved to temporary shelters. The collapse affected 79 homes in the Meethotamulla landfill.
